It’s hard to believe or accept, but summer is nearly drawing to a close, which means you’ve got one last chance for a summer road trip. Living here in Evansville gives us plenty of unique opportunities for short road trips, placing us in close proximity to things not just here in Indiana but also in Kentucky and in Illinois, as well as Ohio and Tennessee.
Here are just a few summer road trip ideas, courtesy of us at Evansville Kia:
Just a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Evansville, Nashville (also known as Music City) is the perfect place to get some great drinks and listen to music or explore some culture, like at the Parthenon. Nashville is also situated next to Percy Priest Lake if you want to spend your weekend hiking, kayaking, and swimming.
Kentucky’s Mammoth Cave is just over two hours from Evansville and offers a unique chance to explore underground Kentucky up close and personal. While around the cave, you can enjoy a number of unique experiences, such as golf, horseback riding, and camping.
Holiday World, Kings Island & Cedar Point
If you like amusement parks, you’re in a good spot. It’s just an hour drive to Holiday World, a three-and-a-half-hour drive to Kings Island, and a seven-hour drive to Cedar Point. While the last drive sounds outrageously long, Cedar Point is recognized as one of the world’s best amusement parks and is well worth the trip.
Take a five-hour trip up to the Windy City to explore fine dining, shopping, museums, and more. If you’re lucky, you might even be able to catch the Cubs hot off their winning streak at Wrigley Field.
