One of the best things about summer is all the delicious barbecue. If you love slow-cooked, spicy meat as much as we do, you need to add the first-annual Evansville BBQ Festival to your calendar. This new event will be held downtown on Aug. 16 and 17.
The festival will be located across from the new Indiana University Medical School between Locust and Walnut Street. Some of the best local and national barbecue masters will come together to compete for the crown of the best barbecue chicken, pork ribs, pork butt, and brisket. This event is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society.
On Friday, there will be Blues, Brews, and BBQ event from 5-10 p.m. This will be a ticketed event for adults 21 years of age and older. On Saturday, the festival will run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Though most of the day’s activities are open to the whole family, there is an adults-only sampling event.
The festival is still accepting team entries, so if you think your barbecue is some of the best, you can sign up now. There will likely be more than 30 teams competing, which means tons of delicious barbecue for all of us try.
We here at Evansville Kia hope to see you at this fun event. Contact us if you’re in need of directions to the festival — or if you need to schedule a summer service appointment for your vehicle.
